Emily Lund
Emily Lund, (Dissertation Title: Maternal word learning cues to children with cochlear implants, 2013) completed her PhD in Fall 2013. She is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Texas Christian University. Emily received a B.A. in Spanish and Economics (2006) from Vanderbilt University College of Arts and Sciences and a M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology (2008), with an emphasis in early identification and interdisciplinary aural rehabilitation of children with hearing loss, from Vanderbilt University Medical School.
After finishing her master's degree, she worked at the National Center for Childhood Deafness and Family Communication in the Vanderbilt Bill Wilkerson Center providing speech-language services to children with hearing loss. She was a recipient of the 2012 New Century Scholars Doctoral Scholarship from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation, the 2011 Student Research Grant in Early Childhood Language Development from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation, the Harold Stirling Vanderbilt Scholarship (2010- 2013), and the 2009 Helen Beebe Auditory-Verbal Scholarship from AG Bell Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
In 2012 Emily participated in ASHA's Lessons for Success conference. Her research interests include language and literacy skills of children with hearing loss, with a particular interest in children with hearing loss from bilingual homes or who are English Language Learners. Emily was a trainee on a Leadership Training Grant from the US Department of Education, Preparing Teachers/Scholars in Language and Literacy, (PI: Schuele).
