Meganne Muir started her PhD in Fall 2023. She received a B.A. in Speech and Hearing Sciences at the Ohio State University (2015) and M.A. in Communication Sciences and Disorders (2018) at the University of Florida. Throughout both programs of study, Meganne served as a research assistant for projects examining outcomes for deaf or hard of hearing children in mainstream classrooms, Early and Adolescent Development of Children with Hearing Loss Project (PI: Nittrouer).
After earning her clinical degree, Meganne worked as a speech-language pathologist at Sunshine Cottage School for Deaf Children, where she provided services for preschool and elementary-aged children in an auditory-verbal setting. In 2022, she obtained Alexander Graham Bell Association’s Listening and Spoken Language Specialist certification. During this time, Meganne also served as adjunct assistant professor at the University of Texas San Antonio and taught graduate courses in the Deaf Education and Hearing Sciences program.
In her doctoral studies, she is a trainee on Project REACH: Research Expertise and Training in Children with Hearing Loss (PI: Schuele) funded by the U.S. Department of Education. She is also doing work in the Child Language Intervention, Measurement, and Best Practices Lab (PI: McDaniel). Her primary research interests include speech and language development in children who are deaf or hard of hearing, and she is dedicated to exploring best practices in providing clinical support for children with developmental disabilities and hearing loss.
