The Rev. Frank Mächt joined Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) in 2023 as Senior Program Manager for Clinical Pastoral Education. He is an ordained pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and an ACPE Certified Educator.

Frank studied theology at the universities of Frankfurt and Münster in Germany before graduating with an M.Div. and M.A. from Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley, CA. He pursued his clinical training at Stanford University Medical Center in Stanford, California; at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, where his clinical assignment was primarily as a workplace chaplain. Frank especially enjoys cross-cultural learning and ministry. He served as a pastor of a multi-cultural, primarily Inupiaq Eskimo congregation in rural Alaska before he returned to healthcare ministry as the manager of spiritual care in a faith-based hospital in the same state. Prior to his call to VUMC he served as the Director of Spiritual Health at an academic medical center in New Hampshire.
