FOCUS: Medical and interprofessional education, human-centered systems design

Dr. Ryan Buckley is an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine in the Section of Hospital Medicine. He received his B.S. in Food Science & Human Nutrition from the University of Florida and his M.D. from the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine. He completed internal medicine residency at the Medical University of South Carolina and served as Chief Resident for Quality & Safety at the Ralph H. Johnson VAMC in Charleston, SC. He started his faculty career as an Academic Hospitalist at the University of Pennsylvania before joining VUMC in 2019.

Dr. Buckley’s academic interests involve medical education, innovation, systems design, and professional development. At the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine he serves as the Director of the Medical Innovators Development Program and Co-Director of the Foundations of Health Care Delivery course. He also co-directs the Measurement & Analysis for Healthcare Quality course in the Master of Public Health program. At VUMC he serves at the Director of Faculty & Career Development for the Section of Hospital Medicine and the Director of the Miller Society, the Department of Medicine’s professional development society of Clinical Practice Track faculty and staff.
