VUMC Has Updated Our Masking Guidelines
Masks are now optional for most patients, visitors and employees in clinical areas within VUMC.
It is important to remember to consider masking when you are showing any symptoms of illness.

It is also to remember back to pre-pandemic to times where you SHOULD be wearing a mask! These include...
- Sterile Dressing Changes (Central line, Drive line, Vas Cath, PICC line)
- When accessing a Vas Cath to initiate CRRT
- Any sterile procedure within the room
- Trach Care
- Droplet Precautions, Airborne Precautions

TRANSPLANT SPECIFIC INFO:
ALL
Transplant Patients MUST Wear Masks when leaving their room! This is to protect the immunosuppressed patient against any source of infection.
Providers are not required to wear masks when entering transplant patients rooms. With the support of VUMC Infection prevention, please focus on core IP practices including
- Washing your hands when entering and leaving.
- Covering your mouth if you are coughing or sneezing.
- Wearing a mask with signs of respiratory infections.

Be mindful if you are sick or have any respiratory illness, consider wearing a mask around these patients.

Per the request of the Lung Transplant Team, for ONLY LUNG TRANSPLANTS,  All healthcare providers will wear mask at all times while in these patients rooms for protective isolation. See image below
