The VUMC Department of Biomedical Informatics (DBMI) offers 2 types of predoctoral research training:
- Our PhD in biomedical informatics prepares students for research careers and leadership in academe, health care, government and public health, and industry. Our PhD students are typically supported by our National Library of Medicine T15 grant. For more information and to apply, visit: https://medschool.vanderbilt.edu/biomedical-informatics/research-ms-and-phd-program/
- Our MS in biomedical informatics immerses students in informatics coursework and research projects. MS students train together with our PhD students. For more information and to apply, visit: https://medschool.vanderbilt.edu/biomedical-informatics/research-ms-and-phd-program/
- DBMI also trains MD/PhD students who enter through Vanderbilt's Medical Science Training Program (MSTP). These students typically begin their PhD in biomedical informatics after completing their first 2 years of medical school. More information is available here: https://medschool.vanderbilt.edu/mstp/
