Health care is largely a repair shop, trying to fix damage to health whose causes lie far from the care system. This lecture will review the evidence on the true causes of illness, injury, and disability, and will explore why that illogical imbalance of investment continues. Assuming both pragmatic and moral reasons for addressing social determinants of illness, where, ideally, would resources flow?
