Welcome New DBMI Students

Bryan Glazer – completed his Bachelor of Arts, in Computer Science, at the University of Arkansas (December 2012). Bryan relocated from Memphis. While in Memphis, Bryan worked at FedEx as a Data Analyst and at CodeCrew as an Instructor. At CodeCrew, he taught high school seniors and middle school students how to program computers. His training assisted students in building websites and programming robots. Bryan is a PhD student funded on the NLM Training Grant.

 

Kyle Hawkins – completed his Bachelor of Science, in Physics with a minor in Mathematics, at Centre College (May 2017). Kyle is a student in the Department of Molecular Physiology & Biophysics. He is a PhD in Biophysics and currently working on developing a nonlinear control and estimation framework for optimizing iPSC to neuron differentiation protocols. Kyle is funded on the NLM Training Grant’s NIEHS supplement.

Kyle Horning – completed his Bachelor of Arts, in Neuroscience, at Drew University (May 2010). Kyle is a student at the Vanderbilt Brain Institute. He is a PhD student in Neuroscience in Aaron Bowman’s lab. His research involves understanding the mechanisms of neuronal transport and homeostasis of the essential trace metal and environmental toxin manganese. Kyle is funded on the NLM Training Grant’s NIEHS supplement.

 

Vern Eric Kerchberger  – completed his Bachelor of Science, in Chemistry, from Yale University (May 2008) and his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine (May 2012). Eric completed his internal medicine residency training at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center. Eric relocated to Nashville in 2015 and is currently a fourth year clinical fellow in the Division of Allergy, Pulmonary, and Critical Care Medicine in the Department of Medicine. Eric is a Master student funded on the NLM Training Grant.

 

 Mirza Khan – completed his Bachelor of Arts, from Northwestern University (June 2009) and his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin (May 2015). Mirza did his internal medicine residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Mirza is a Master student funded by the VA Postdoctoral Fellowship in Medical Informatics and Quality Improvement.
