Dr. Roden is a clinician-scientist whose laboratory currently focuses on establishing the functional consequences of genetic variation in humans.  The lab uses a range of contemporary techniques such as induced pluripotent stem cells, gene editing, deep mutational scanning, high-throughput automated electrophysiology, probing the relationship between genetic variants and phenotypes in electronic health records (EHRs) and other biobanks, and most recently understanding the structural correlates of genomic particularly in ion channels.
