Laryngology and Care of the Professional Voice Fellowship

The Vanderbilt Fellowship in Laryngology and Care of the Professional Voice is a nationally prominent, one-year clinical and research experience. There are two positions available per year, beginning in July. This fellowship is offered through the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).

The Vanderbilt Fellowship in Laryngology and Care of the Professional Voice is one of the longest-running laryngology fellowships in the nation. Fellows will work closely with experts at the Vanderbilt Voice Center, utilizing a multidisciplinary approach for the diagnosis and management of voice, airway and swallowing disorders. Additional clinical and basic science research opportunities are also available to fellows.

Applications to the Laryngology & Care of the Professional Voice Fellowship are due December 15.

Program Overview
The Vanderbilt Fellowship in Laryngology and Care of the Professional Voice curriculum includes all aspects of laryngology, including:

Endoscopic microsurgery for a variety of laryngeal pathologies

Laryngeal framework surgery

Open and endoscopic surgical treatment of complex airway disorders

Diagnosis and treatment of spasmodic dysphonia and other neurologic voice disorders

Dysphagia

In-office procedures

In addition, fellows are appointed as clinical instructors at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, giving them experience and leadership in the academic setting. Fellows are also given surgical privileges at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Vanderbilt Children's Hospital and the VA Hospital.

Application Process
Applicants interested in the Vanderbilt Fellowship in Laryngology and Care of the Professional Voice must meet the following requirements:

Physicians have completed a residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery or fulfillment of the requirements necessary to sit for the certification examination of the American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.

Program must be accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).

Applicant must be either US board certified or US board eligible.

A valid full (not training) Tennessee medical license is required at the start of the fellowship.
