The Latest News from VIGH

The Vanderbilt Institute for Global Health Student Advisory Council (SAC) is a student-led organization that brings together diverse students interested in global health with the goal of fostering cross-disciplinary student networking and collaboration. Although networking and collaboration often occur in person, this year, council leaders pivoted two key events to be held online. They welcomed a record attendance of Vanderbilt students, staff, faculty, and community members engaged in global health.

2019 Global Health Case Competition

   

In February, the VIGH Student Advisory Council hosted its seventh annual university-wide global health case competition. This year, the competition was held in conjunction with Vanderbilt’s first “Haiti Week,” co-hosted by VIGH and the Vanderbilt Center for Latin American Studies.

In the 2016 Global Health Case Competition, teams proposed solutions to strengthen the health system in Liberia after the Ebola outbreak. The Vanderbilt Institute for Global Health’s Student Advisory Council hosted its sixth annual Global Health Case Competition from February 7-13, 2016. This year, the Student Advisory Council organized several experts from the field to give presentations on health systems strengthening (HSS) and act as judges for the competition.

The case topic of the 2015 Global Health Case Competition was “Nigerian Population Growth: Addressing Extreme Poverty through Family Planning." 

In the 2014 Global Health Case Competition, teams proposed solutions to address road traffic injuries in urban Vietnam The Vanderbilt Institute for Global Health’s Student Advisory Council hosted its fourth annual Global Health Case Competition from February 5-8, 2014.

The Vanderbilt Institute for Global Health Student Advisory Council hosted its third annual Global Health Case Competition from February 13-16, 2013. Thirteen multidisciplinary teams composed of undergraduate, graduate, and professional students from eight schools across the university competed in the event, tackling a complex, real-world challenge of global significance. 

The VIGH Student Advisory Council is excited to announce registration for the 2013 Vanderbilt Global Health Case Competition is now open to undergraduate and graduate students from across the university!
