Today marks the ten year anniversary of the Vanderbilt Institute for Global Health (VIGH). I want to thank the many talented staff and faculty in VIGH, both here and abroad, alongside employees of Friends in Global Health, LLC as we celebrate a decade of progress and look to the future. We are honored to be partnering with extraordinary persons and institutions, for which we are most grateful.
Today, we have 90 affiliated and core faculty members across all ten schools of the university and an extramural budget of over $16 million supporting 13 core VIGH faculty members and their overseas partners in more than a dozen institutions located in Nigeria, China, Zambia, South Africa, Pakistan, Peru, Mozambique, and elsewhere.
We welcome those of you who have discovered this message to explore these initiatives on the website and contact us if you have questions, suggestions, or collaborative ideas.
The work of VIGH has one goal, to prevent disease, ameliorate suffering, and promoting health in the resource-limited regions of our world.
Happy 10th Anniversary!
Sten Vermund, M.D. Ph.D.
Director of VIGH and Assistant Vice Chancellor for Global Health
