VIGH’s Kipkosgei Magut was recently elected to the Board of Directors at the Nashville International Center for Empowerment (NICE). NICE is a non-profit, community-based organization dedicated to empowering refugees and immigrants of Middle Tennessee through direct social services and educational programs. Magut states, “I feel really honored to have been elected to be on the board at NICE, and I have always admired the work they do in our community. With this opportunity, I will not only get a chance to learn more about the refugee population but will have the opportunity to be part of a team that works on coming up with lasting solutions to their social and economic challenges.” Magut joins VIGH’s Amy Richardson and 16 other members on NICE’s board of directors. Other NICE Board Members at Vanderbilt include Kathy Edson (Board Chair; Program Coordinator at VICTR), Stan Thangaraj (newly elected; Research Associate in Sociology), Nancy Dickson (newly elected; Program Manager of Humphrey Fellowship Program), and Alex Negrin Santana (Program Coordinator at the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center).
