Jeffrey G. Stovall, MD

Dr. Stovall joined the Vanderbilt faculty in 2008 as the Residency Training Director for the adult psychiatry program. He has worked for years in community psychiatry and in primary medical settings with an emphasis on the treatment of serious mental illness, the integration of psychiatric and medical care, homelessness, and cross cultural psychiatry. He has worked extensively with refugees in the United States, and has consulted with Physicians for Human Rights in evaluating and treating victims of torture who are applying for asylum. For five years he consulted with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Vietnam in the development of Family Medicine Residency Training programs at medical schools in Hanoi, Hue, Thai Nguyen and Ho Chi Minh City. His work with the Ministry of Health focused on training primary care physicians in the recognition and treatment of psychiatric disorders. Currently he is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry, Medical Director of the Partial Hospital Program and a clinician in the Psychosis Clinic at Vanderbilt. He serves on the Advisory Board of the Shade Tree Clinic.
