ACCELERATED RTMS IN SCHIZOPHRENIA
Traditional rTMS protocols involve daily sessions over weeks. Newer, “accelerated” protocols allow for multiple rTMS sessions per day to achieve a more rapid response. We are testing if an accelerated rTMS intervention in schizophrenia will change brain networks and cognitive performance.
NICOTINE RTMS
Over 60% of people with schizophrenia smoke cigarettes, yet the reason why remains unknown. In previous research, the Ward Lab has linked specific brain circuitry to schizophrenia and nicotine use. We are now testing an rTMS intervention on that circuitry to reduce nicotine craving both in people with and without schizophrenia.
