The Pediatric Trauma Injury Prevention Program encompasses all safety and injury prevention programs for Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. The program's mission is to prevent and reduce injuries among children and promote safe behaviors and environments through education, programs and research. Our programs include hospital-based initiatives, Safe Kids of Cumberland Valley, Injury Free Coalition for Kids, the Child Passenger Safety Program and outreach and education resources.
IMPORTANT REQUIREMENTS:
An Internship MUST be a requirement of your program in order to apply.
You cannot be employed or be a current volunteer with VUMC and intern concurrently. This is not a program policy, this is a VUMC policy and there are no exceptions.
As of Summer 2025, we are no longer accepting remote interns. If you are willing to accept at least a hybrid assignment, please contact the program manager.
NOTE: This internship is unpaid.

Intern responsibilities will be individually tailored to match program requirements and interests of the student. Duties might include any of the following: planning, implementing and evaluating research-driven projects, assisting with outreach and hospital events, grant writing, research, marketing, communication, article writing, display design, media support, website maintenance, creating and delivering training presentations, data analysis, activity planning, social media, creating educational material, networking, attending meetings, and learning about local, state, and nationwide policies.
