Vanderbilt Kidney-Pancreas Transplant Program
Vanderbilt's Kidney Transplant Program is one of the largest and oldest in the US. Since its inception in 1962, over 5,100 transplants have been performed at the combined Vanderbilt University Medical Center-Nashville VA Kidney/Pancreas Transplant Center. Kidney transplantation is offered as one of the treatment options for end-stage renal disease. Key components of the program include:
- accurate medication doses through PREDICT,
- aggressive patient education,
- increased use of outpatient treatment regimens,
- decreased rejection rates,
- desensitization protocol,
- SWAP program, and
- an increase in the number of living donor transplants performed.
Vanderbilt provides transplant services for both adult and pediatric patients.
