In Tennessee, there are about 130,000 LGBT adults and about 11,000 same-sex couples. And as Dr. Jesse Ehrenfeld, the director of the Program for lgbtq Health at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, puts it, “They all need adequate health care just the same as anyone else.” more . . .

Students from multiple disciplines are welcome to join the Vanderbilt School of Nursing this summer for a summer intensive in Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex (lgbtq) Health. Registration is live for NURS 6091 – lgbtq Health in Inter-professional Practice.  

Want to become a Trans Buddy volunteer and increase access to care and improve healthcare outcomes for transgender people by providing emotional support to transgender patients during healthcare visits? Join the Vanderbilt Program for lgbtq Health for lunch (any time between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.) on Tuesday, April 18 as we host Dining Out for Life at Provence Breads and Cafe in Hillsboro Village to raise money for Nashville CARES, the premier agency in Middle Tennessee helping people with HIV/AIDS.

We're very excited that Trans Buddy volunteers are being recognized for their compassion and commitment! The Mary Catherine Strobel Volunteer Awards recognize Middle Tennessee volunteers who give their time and talents to improve the community. In its 31st year, the awards ceremony are Middle Tennessee's largest annual celebration of volunteerism.
