The Neuro Intensive Care Unit feels that open visitation for families and members of the patient's support team can be extremely helpful in the healing process, but it has also been shown to be harmful when used incorrectly. We have established a Visitation PASS System to better meet the needs of the patients, families, and healthcare providers by ensuring that the open visitation policy is being utilized safely and correctly.
Daytime Visitation Policy (Effective 8AM to 9PM)
No visitors are allowed inside the Neuro Intensive Care Unit without an appropriate ID tag or Visitation PASS. Please check in at the 6T3 waiting room information desk, or the medical receptionist (M.R.) desk just inside the ICU prior to going to your loved one's room. You will be given an appropriate PASS.
Only two (2) visitors are allowed per room during the DAY.
A daytime PASS will have a number one (1) or two (2) on it, as well as your designated ICU room number.
When switching out with another family/support team member OR leaving the unit, please leave your PASS with the medical receptionist, or in the dedicated basket. You can easily reclaim it upon returning to the unit.
Please DO NOT stand or congregate in the hallway. This is a violation of other patients' privacy.
Nighttime Visitation Policy (Effective 9PM to 8AM)
Please check in at the 6T3 waiting room information desk, or the medical receptionist (M.R.) desk just inside the ICU prior to going to your loved one's room. You will be given an appropriate PASS.
Only one (1) visitor is allowed per room at night (9PM to 8AM).
A nighttime PASS will have the letter - N - on it, as well as your designated ICU room number.
As above, please leave your PASS with the medical receptionist, or in the dedicated basket when leaving the unit. You can easily reclaim it upon returning to the unit.
Thank you for helping us provide a safer and more effective environment in our unit!
