Charlene Dewey, MD, MEd., FACP and William Swiggart, MS, LPC/MHSP, Co-Directors for the Vanderbilt Center for Professional Health, attended the September 15 -17, 2014 AMA CMA BMA International Conference on Physician Health, sponsored by the British Medical Association, BMA House, London, UK. The theme of the conference was Milestones and Transitions – Maintaining the Balance.
Dr. Dewey and Mr. Swiggart along with Charles Samenow, MD, (George Washington School of Medicine) and Betsy Williams, PhD, (Rush University) led two 1 ½ hour workshops: 1. Best Practices for Preparing and Assisting Physicians in Transitions 2. Milestones, Competencies and Retirement: Helping Physicians Transition.
In addition, the CPH team presented an oral research presentation accepted for inclusion in the ICPH titled B-29 360 degree Assessment of Physician's Workplace Behavior – co-authored by William Swiggart, MS, LPC/MHSP; Betsy Williams, PhD, MPH; Ken Wallston, PhD; Charlene Dewey, MD, M.Ed, FACP; Marine V. Dr. Dewey also chaired Planning Well for Senior Choices, a concurrent session of research presentations.
