OR Float Pool
Welcome to Vanderbilt Medical Center Adult Hospital Operating Room OR Float Pool. We are located on the 3rd floor.
Our environment is a fast paced, flexible, team-oriented with a focus on providing excellent surgical care to accommodate all our patient population.
One of the perks of working as a OR Float Pool staff is the vast diversity of our patients. Some of our patients have been anticipating their surgery for an extended period of time, for others it is a first time in a hospital setting due to accident. We aim to provide safe, high quality patient care for all our patients.
The Adult Operating Room provides a wide variety of care focused on services lines. Those surgical procedures generally are GYN, Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Urology/Robotics, General Surgery, Vascular and Plastic.
OR Float Pool staff must be able to work a varied shift with flexible hours to include nights and weekends. We generally look for at least one year of OR experience but prefer two years.
Our team consists of RNs, Certified Surgical Technologists, First Assists (RNs and STs), Clinical Staff Leader (CSL), and a Board Charge Nurse. The team reports to a nurse manager and clinical nursing director.
Our RNs and STs are successful because they believe our patient’s safety comes first and they believe in multi-disciplinary collaborative teamwork.
We encourage professional growth
If your career goal is to expand your nursing career outside of the traditional bedside care model, the Main Operating Room OR Float Pool team can help with this by providing you with numerous ways to expand your skillset whether it be leadership, scrubbing, or first assisting in cases.
