Regarding the previous Question of the Week on Green Tea/extract (available on the Tennessee Poison Center website, Health Care Professional tab, 3/12/2021): Dr. Ann Kavanaugh-McHugh, Associate Professor of Pediatric Cardiology, sent us a monograph about polyphenol rich food ( of plant origin with antioxidant properties-examples-tea, cocoa, fruits, and berries, some vegetables), This monograph is distributed to pregnant patients. There are concerns polyphenols can play a part in premature closure of the ductus. Note that Green Tea is on the list. Thanks again to the experts that send their comments.
I am interested in any questions you would like answered in the Question of the Week. Please email me with any suggestion at donna.seger@vumc.org.
