Occupational Health Clinic Protects Thousands Against the Flu

The Occupational Health Clinic (OHC)'s Onsite Flu Vaccination Program goes on location to help VUMC employees access vaccines conveniently, with minimal travel and time away from their jobs. The program increases productivity while ensuring that employees can protect themselves and those around them against the flu.

In 2021, the program hosted 73 onsite events as well as a Fast-Flu three-day drive-thru event. The events helped 95% of VUMC's employees—totaling more than 19,000 faculty and staff—get vaccinated for flu or enter an exemption well in advance of the Jan. 3, 2022, deadline.

More than 3,500 employees took advantage of the option to provide consent in advance for their flu vaccines to be imported into their OHC record automatically ones it is documented in their VUMC medical record. This eliminates the need to send OHC information manually if employees are vaccinated elsewhere at VUMC, such as a walk-in-clinic, and makes documenting compliance much easier. Consent can be provided by completing the Consent for Flu and COVID import

Congratulations to our colleagues in OHC for another successful Onsite Flu Vaccination Program. Your hard work makes everyone at VUMC as well as the community safer during a difficult cold and flu season.
