Rizwan Hamid, MD, PhD, FAAP
Director of the Potocsnak Center of Undiagnosed and Rare Disorders and the lead of the UDN local site, Dr. Hamid is a pediatric clinical and biochemical geneticist who has dedicated over 20 years of his life to serving patients with rare and undiagnosed diseases at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. With a passion for helping these patients, Dr. Hamid is driven by a vision to create a world where individuals facing the uncertainty and frustration of long diagnostic journeys are no longer forgotten. He is also a distinguished researcher, with over 100 published manuscripts and a focus on unlocking the mysteries of why some individuals develop rare and lethal lung diseases while others do not. With roots in Nashville dating back to 1987, Dr. Hamid balances his work with hobbies including photography, hiking, reading science fiction, listening to Chopin, visiting museums, and supporting Liverpool football club.
