In 2020, in an effort to highlight the academic efforts and publications of our Trainees, Staff and Faculty, VUMC Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences launched the Annual Academic Psychiatry Symposium which incorporated the oral research presentations given annually by the graduating PGY4s and combined that with poster sessions offered by contributors from across the ever-widening spectrum of the Department. In 2021, under the guidance of Professor Emeritus Ariel Y. Deutch, PhD, a plenary talk was added and the name Academic Psychiatry Symposium was adopted.
