Childhood adversity exposure is estimated to account for 30-50 percent of the risk for childhood onset mood disorders. Adversity is associated with poorer response to front-line behavioral interventions, though the reasons are unclear. Research on the role of adversity in cognitive and behavioral processes relevant to interventions for youth will be presented.
