Blog posts are created on a regular (recurring) basis, unlike pages. Blog posts are displayed in reverse chronological order on a blog. Blog posts are an ideal format for news stories and announcements because of their time sensitive nature.
Creating a Blog Post
Select + Create Content in the black administrative toolbar and choose Blog Post. If you have not yet created a Blog for your posts to belong to, you will be prompted to create that first. There are a number of settings for how blog posts should be displayed on your blog. For now, you can simply specify a title (e.g., “News and Announcements”). Once you have created your blog, revisit + Create Content and choose Blog Post.
You should see these fields:
Title This is the title of your post.
Author If your posts come from a variety of authors, you may wish to specify the author of the post here.
Categorize This is where you specify which blog this post should be displayed on. Additionally, you can create sections of the blog by adding them in the Category/Section area. Tags are free-form words/phrases that are relevant to your post. You can use them to make it easy for users to find other posts with that same tag.
Body This is the main body of your post, which uses the text editor. See the “Text Editing” section for details.
Thumbnail Image This is for the image you want to show on your blog page along with your teaser text. This is the only place this image will show. The thumbnail image field has a fixed width of 150 pixels. This means if you upload an image larger than 150 pixels wide, it will shrink your image down to 150 pixels wide. If you upload an image smaller than 150 pixels wide, it will increase your image to 150 pixels wide and your image will appear blurry. It's best to use an image 150 pixels wide or larger. The length of your image can vary and will be adjusted to the width proportionally.
Post Image This is for the image you want to show on your blog post page. It will appear aligned to the right of your post text and can have a caption below it. The size of your image will be adjusted proportionally depending on if you have sidebar blocks showing on your post pages or not. For posts that show sidebar blocks, the post image will have a fixed width of 184 pixels. For posts that do not show sidebar blocks, the post image will have a fixed width of 296 pixels. For best image results, upload the largest size and it will be adjusted proportionally. The length of your image can vary.
