Hyacinthe Umwali, MPH, MSc
Hyacinthe Umwali graduated from Hendrix College with a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. She furthered her education by earning a Master of Public Health (MPH) with a concentration in Epidemiology from East Tennessee State University, and a Master of Science in Information Technology (MSIT) from the University of the Cumberlands.
Hyacinthe Umwali joined the ViTAL team in December 2019 as a Health Policy and Service Specialist II, primarily focusing on the Metabolism Informed Smoking Treatment (MIST) study. She is a Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist, having completed the Certified Tobacco Treatment Training Program (CTTTP). In 2020, Hyacinthe transitioned to lead the Investigating N-3 Fatty Acids to prevent Neonatal Tobacco-related outcomeS (INFANTS) study, where she now serves as the Clinical/Translational Research Coordinator III.
In addition to her academic and professional achievements, Hyacinthe is a dedicated member of the Tennessee National Guard, reflecting her commitment to public service and community engagement. Her diverse educational background and practical experience in both public health and technology drive her exceptional contributions to our ViTAL team initiatives.
