Vanderbilt University Hospital
After starting my nursing career in the Carolinas, I came to Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) in 2013, and what a great decision it was! I began my VUMC career as a clinical nurse in the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt Perioperative Area, and served as the Clinical Staff Leader in that same unit from 2014 to early 2020. In that same year, I became the Nurse Manager of the Vanderbilt University Hospital (VUH) Radiology Nursing and Vascular Access department and held that position from 2020 to 2022 prior to assuming my current role as senior associate of nursing for the Vanderbilt Heart and Vascular Institute and Neurology segment.
The best part of being a nurse leader at VUH is engaging frontline staff and helping them meet their professional development goals, while simultaneously improving patient safety, patient care, and the nurse environment. I am grateful for VUMC's culture of Shared Governance and decision-making that allows nursing leaders to partner with frontline staff to implement positive change across the organization.
