VUMC is a prestigious academic medical center known for its dedication to improve patient outcomes using research and evidence-based practice. Additionally, Magnet designation demonstrates the nursing commitment to improve patient outcomes. VUMC's culture aligns with my passion to influence and empower others to create a safe, equitable healthcare environment by using research and evidence-based practice to improve quality, efficiency, patient experience, employee engagement, and innovation. Prior to working for VUMC, I have served as an executive nursing leader in academic and non-academic acute care hospitals nationally and internationally. I dedicated my career to improving health outcomes while promoting diversity, equity and inclusion for all people, especially among our vulnerable populations. I am dedicated to volunteering hours to community initiatives related to human trafficking, homelessness, substance use disorders, and health care delivery in underserved communities.
The best part about being a nursing leader at VUMC is the collaborative culture, nursing philosophy, and innovative drive to improve healthcare for all people. As a nursing leader, I strive to create an inclusive, collaborative environment by inspiring others through compassion, encouraging innovation, fostering shared decision making, and promoting learning opportunities.
