Program Overview
The Division of Animal Care Internship/Summer Work Program is designed to be an introduction to Laboratory Animal Husbandry for current undergraduate students pursuing studies in animal science, agriculture, zoology, biology, or other related fields. The goal is to cultivate future Operational and Clinical staff in support of VUMC’s Retention Goals.
The program lasts twelve to fourteen weeks, starting in mid-May and finishing by the end of August. A maximum of two interns are accepted each year. Each intern is assigned to a primary animal housing facility with the Facility Manager acting as a mentor.
Qualifications
REQUIRED:
• Demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in Animal Science or Animal Care
• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program
PREFERRED:
• Completed one year of an undergraduate program
Application Process
Applicants must apply through the Work At Vanderbilt University Medical Center website. In addition, applicants will submit:
1. A letter of intent
2. A Curriculum Vitae or Résumé
