Internal Animal Transfers
Requests for internal transfers are due by Friday at 4:30 PM in order to be completed the following Thursday by 4 PM.
This includes the following transfers:
PI to PI
Protocol to protocol
Facility/room relocations
Below is the procedure for internal animal transfers:
1. PI must complete the applicable transfer request form:
Non-USDA Animal Transfer Request Form - Mouse, Rat, Aquatic Species
USDA-Regulated Species Transfer Request Form - All USDA-regulated species
2. The DAC will review the health status prior to approving the transfer. IACUC/OAWA approval is required for all USDA transfers involving animals with prior surgeries.
3. Once the transfer has been approved, parasitology testing is performed when deemed necessary by the veterinarian. If the parasitology results are negative, the paperwork is processed, new cards generated, and all information is given to the responsible facility manager.

Expiring protocols must have all animals transferred from the protocol prior to the expiration date. Protocols receiving animals via a transfer request must be active and must contain a sufficient number of available animals.
