Daniel Dulek, MD joins the AEE Board

Congratulations Dr. Dulek!

Please join the Academy for Excellence in Education in congratulating Daniel Dulek, MD as the newest member of the AEE Board! Dr. Dulek ran unopposed for the Member at Large position, and the AEE Board unanimously approved his selection. We are excited to have Dr. Dulek in this role. Below is his vision for the AEE:

“I am excited for the opportunity to deepen my involvement in the Academy for Excellence in Education at VUMC. Through my career so far, I have found great satisfaction in helping learners in medical education make connections between foundational science and clinical care. Making these connections expands and enhances learners’ ability to communicate well, think critically, deal with uncertainty when present, and seek to resolve this uncertainty through mechanistic understanding of disease processes.

I view our Academy as a connection enhancer. Through our work together, we make connections between each other, between learners and ourselves, and between learners and other learners (which we all are). These connections allow us to improve as individuals and as a larger Academy.  As a member of the Board, I would explore opportunities to facilitate connection between clinical and basic/translational science educators at VUMC. Given my experience on the Membership Committee, another key goal of mine would be to identify Departments, Centers, Divisions, and other groups at VUMC who are underrepresented in our Academy and increase outreach and engagement with those groups. Having a vibrant community of educators from diverse backgrounds, experiences, and training areas is critical to our individual and communal health at VUMC and VUSM. I look forward to continuing to work towards these goals through my ongoing involvement AEE.”
