Vanderbilt Software Store - Storefront Consolidation

The Vanderbilt Software Store uses two storefronts to offer discounts to the Vanderbilt community: E-academy hosts both stores for Vanderbilt.  We are working with e-academy to merge the two stores based on feedback from customers in our recent Software Store Customer Satisfaction Survey.  We expect to complete this process by December 31, 2011. During January 2012, E-academy will permanently shut down Store 1. The following summarizes important changes regarding this effort:
  1. E-academy cannot import customer transaction data from Store 1 into Store 2 because the two stores use different platforms.  The Vanderbilt Software Store does have a record of your purchase history, and we can issue a free download for a product you obtained through Store 1 into your Store 2 account.  You may contact us at software.store@vanderbilt.edu or 343-3919 to request a free download for an order you placed through Store 1.
  2. In some cases, we cannot issue a download for an order you placed through Store 1.  For example:
    • We cannot issue downloads for old versions of products (e.g. Matlab 2010a).
    • We cannot issue downloads for discontinued products (e.g. Webroot SpySweeper).
    • We cannot issue downloads for subscription based products (e.g. SAS) if your subscription has expired.
These changes do not affect orders placed through Store 2. You may wish to make a backup copy of your orders for discontinued and older version products prior to December 31.
  3. Customers cannot assign installation rights to their local desktop support provider.  Instead, customers with administrative rights to their computers can download their software and then contact their support provider for help installing the product.  Customers without administrative rights to their computer can ask their desktop support provider to place the order under the desktop support provider’s name so that the download goes into the desktop support provider’s account.
  4. We cannot use Store 2 to transfer licenses from one customer to another.  Instead, desktop support providers must transfer software from one computer to another without using the Software Store.
  5. Approvers can no longer opt into an email alert service for pending orders.  Instead, the person who submits the order must contact the Approver to request that the Approver log into the Software Store and approve the order.
  6. Approvers cannot filter pending orders by cost center.  The Approver must search for the order number provided to them by the person who submitted the order.
  7. Approvers can no longer export a sales report that only lists the orders they have approved.  Instead, they must export the complete list of transactions that occurred within the specified date range and then use Excel to filter the report by cost center.
  8. If Approvers submit an order and reference a cost center they manage, they must approve the order after they submit it (i.e. the Software Store will not automatically approve the order).
  9. Approvers will be able to see and approve orders that reference cost centers they do not manage.  The Software Store will perform a daily audit to ensure an Approver has not mistakenly approved an order placed by another department.
Please contact the Software Store at 343-3919, or software.store@vanderbilt.edu if you need additional information.
