A VUMC Radiology resident and professor were recently interviewed by the American Board of Radiology for the mentorship and DEI efforts made by the department and our effort to recruit the best doctors available.
Cam Henry, MD, fourth year DR resident, was featured in the article as a stand out of our residency program and for his choice to continue his education here in Nashville. In the article, Marques Bradshaw, MD, radiology's Vice Chair of Diversity Affairs, showcases Dr. Henry's time in medicine and discusses the importance of mentorship in the field, especially for underrepresented medical students.
Dr. Henry, who serves as the resident liaison for the department's Office of Diversity and Inclusion, says that mentorship and VUMC's partnership with Meharry Medical College are some of the top reasons he chose to stay.
“I’m able to mentor a lot of underrepresented medical students to come into this field,” Dr. Henry says. “The proximity of a world-class institution to a historically Black medical university is a match made in heaven for me.”
Dr. Bradshaw sees big things for Dr. Henry, including a bright future with Vanderbilt and the Department of Radiology.
“I see him being a leader in the spaces of cardiovascular imaging, 3D printing, and health policy," Dr. Bradshaw says. "And I fully expect Cam to take my job as Vice Chair of Diversity Affairs one day.”
