Colin McKnight, MD, Associate Professor, Radiology and Radiological Sciences, has been accepted into RSNA's 2022-2023 Advanced Course in Grant Writing. In the program, Dr. McKnight will work alongside 15 other faculty from around the country. Together, they will not only learn the fundamentals of good grant writing, but develop a deeper understanding for the proposal process in order to assemble an application suitable for submission to government or private funding agencies.
"I am thrilled to be taking part in this program," Dr. McKnight says. "This is an exciting opportunity to refine my ability to compose grants that convey meaningful scientific hypotheses. I am equally encouraged to learn from the many talented mentors and participants, and I am extremely grateful for the department's support."
Currently, through his RSNA Research Scholar Grant, Dr. McKnight is studying MR biomarkers of impaired cerebrospinal fluid circulation and the recently discovered glymphatic system. He hopes the grant writing course will help him to expand upon this work by providing a framework to produce a competitive NIH grant application in this arena as a primary investigator.
