Lori Deitte, MD, Professor and Vice Chair of Education, Department of Radiology, has been elected as an inaugural Fellow of the Association of University Radiologists (AUR).
A professional organization dedicated to promoting collaboration and innovation in academic radiology, the AUR established its College of Fellows to recognize the achievements of AUR members in education, research and leadership. Dr. Deitte is among 26 academic radiologists granted FAUR designation in the inaugural class of AUR Fellows.
“The Association of University Radiologists is core to my professional identity as an educator and leader in academic radiology,” said Dr. Deitte. “I am particularly grateful to the AUR for connecting me with so many colleagues and friends. Being selected as an inaugural Fellow of the AUR is a tremendous honor.”
In addition to being a board-certified radiologist in the department’s Body Imaging section, Dr. Deitte oversees the educational missions of the department as its Vice Chair of Education; a position she has held since joining Vanderbilt in 2015. As a result of her efforts, Dr. Deitte has been recognized across Vanderbilt University and the Medical Center for her contributions to medical education. In 2016, she was inducted into the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine’s (VUSM) Academy for Excellence in Education, and was awarded the inaugural Faculty Fellowship to Advance Medicine Education. In subsequent years, she was the recipient of VUSM’s Geoffrey David Chazen Award and of the Radiology Teacher of the Year award.
Outside of Vanderbilt, Dr. Deitte holds numerous positions in professional organizations, including the AUR, Association of Program Directors in Radiology (APDR), and the American College of Radiology (ACR). Currently, she is a member of the AUR Long Range Planning and Scientific Programming committees. She also serves as Chair of the ACR Commission on Publications and Lifelong Learning, and as Co-editor of the “Civil Discourse” column in the Training and Education section of the Journal of the American College of Radiology (JACR). She previously served as a member of the AUR Board of Directors and Program Planning Committee, and as President of the APDR.
Since joining the AUR in 2006, Dr. Deitte has given more than 30 presentations at annual AUR meetings on topics related to education and faculty development. In her 30 years as a practicing radiologist, she has delivered 130 regional, national and international invited presentations and co-authored over 50 articles in leading industry journals such as Academic Radiology and the JACR.
