Department of Radiology Announces Chief Residents for Class of 2018

The Department of Radiology recently announced third-year diagnostic radiology resident Drs. Brian Bussey and Tyler McKinnon as chief residents for the Class of 2018. They will assume their new roles after the completion of the American Board of Radiology’s Core Examination in June.

“I am very excited that Tyler and Brian will be our new chief residents, and I look forward to working with them this upcoming year,” said Ed Donnelly, M.D., Ph.D., Associate Professor of Radiology and Radiological Sciences and Radiology Residency Program Director.

Drs. Bussey and McKinnon were elected by their fellow residents as the new chief residents because of their outstanding achievements and contributions to the department and residency program throughout their training.

“My interactions with the other residents have been one of the most rewarding aspects of my time in the program,” said Dr. McKinnon. “I am excited to have the opportunity to work with, and for, my fellow residents and represent them.”

As chief residents, Drs. Bussey and McKinnon will represent the overall interests of the residents and serve as liaisons between the program director and faculty. In addition, they will be responsible for oversight of work assignments and management of call, leave and pull schedules, and mentorship of fellow residents.

“I look forward to working with residents the most, particularly the first years,” added Dr. Bussey. “Starting radiology residency is very exciting, and I hope to help make our already great training program even better so that we all leave here with the confidence and knowledge to deliver great health care.”
