Today, the Department of Radiology announced third-year diagnostic radiology resident Drs. Patrick Couture and Erik Landman as chief residents for the class of 2019.
“We have an outstanding third-year class, which resulted in a very close election this year,” said Edwin Donnelly, M.D., Ph.D., Associate Professor and Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program Director. “Please join me in congratulating [them] on being elected chief residents for the upcoming academic year!”
Elected by fellow trainees, Drs. Couture and Landman will assume their duties mid-June, following their completion of the American Board of Radiology’s Core Exam. As chief residents, they will manage call, leave and pull schedules, mentorship of the residents, and will serve as liaisons between the other trainees and faculty.
“I want to do the best job I can for the residents,” said Dr. Couture. “I think the program becomes better when resident concerns are heard and the training is augmented to improve patient care in coordination with education.”
Since beginning their training in 2015, Drs. Couture and Landman have exhibited a strong commitment to their training and careers as radiologists. They have actively engaged in the department’s training and recruitment initiatives, and have participated in leadership roles and programs by local and national organizations, including the Tennessee Radiological Society and the American College of Radiology.
“We’re thrilled for Drs. Couture and Landman, and look forward to their contributions across the department, Medical Center and the radiology community as a whole,” added Department of Radiology Chairman Reed Omary, M.D., M.S.
