Department of Radiology Director Sarah Moore, MBA, CNMT, RT(CT), was awarded the distinguished Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) Five Pillar Leader Award at last week’s Leadership Assembly.
The Five Pillar Award recognizes leaders across VUMC who consistently model the Medical Center’s Credo and five pillars of excellence – people, service, quality, growth and finance, and innovation.
Rich Pierce, MBA, Radiology Chief of Finance and Administration, introduced Moore and described her contributions and accomplishments before VUMC President and CEO Jeff Balser, M.D., formally presented her with the award.
“The greatest thing about Sarah is that she is one of us,” said Pierce. “She works beside us every day, shows us how to be a leader, how to live by the Credo, and challenges and empowers us to be the best we can.”
In her 20 years at VUMC, Moore has held various roles from Technologist and Lead Technologist to Manager and now Director.
Pierce said in each of those roles, she excelled at all five pillars, maintained a calm, positive attitude, and demonstrated, through her actions, her commitment to patient care.
Vanderbilt Hospitals and Clinics CEO Mitch Edgeworth shared a comment with Pierce that said, “Sarah is a model of stability and poise under pressure. She has always been the calm in a storm and the leader who can pause, take a deep breath and make rational decisions in the midst of our busy, high pressure roles.”
Among her many accomplishments, Moore has implemented solutions to issues that have saved Radiology more than $80,000 annually in film storage costs, and has lead projects to ensure the Radiopharmacy’s state and government compliance while avoiding more than $1 million in projected capital outlays.
“For those who work with Sarah, know her and know her work ethic, you know this is a very well deserved recognition,” said Pierce.
“I’m honored to receive the Five Pillar Award, and am grateful for the incredible team I get to work with every day,” added Moore.
