The Department of Radiology and Radiological Sciences is proud to share that VUMC third-year resident, Ty Todd, DO, will be staying with our team for a fellowship in Pediatric Neuroradiology. After completion, he will then join our faculty as an Assistant Professor.
“I'm absolutely thrilled to continue my education here at Vanderbilt and to stay on afterwards with such amazing people,” Dr. Todd says. “The pediatric staff radiates positivity all day and the educational environment they have created is infectious. I know working alongside such passionate people will continue to help me grow into the physician I strive to be.”
Reed Omary, MD, MS, Carol D. and Henry P. Pendergrass Professor and Chair, is ecstatic that Dr. Todd is committed to a future with VUMC Radiology.
“It’s gratifying to help our trainees succeed,” Dr. Omary says. “This combined path is an accelerant for residents to launch their faculty careers. When residents commit to a fellowship and faculty appointment with Vanderbilt Radiology, that’s a pipeline for surefire success.”
“I congratulate Ty for continuing as a fellow and afterward as a faculty member,” says Sumit Pruthi, MBBS, Section Chief of Pediatric Radiology. “Ty had many options for his fellowship, but he chose to remain here, demonstrating his commitment to and love of Vanderbilt. Retaining a top resident like Ty is a source of great pride and satisfaction for the entire department.”
He continues: “I eagerly anticipate Ty's flourishing and successful career in pediatric radiology, especially pediatric neuroradiology. I am confident that he is a superb radiologist who will further advance the practice of pediatric radiology and patient care here at Vanderbilt. I wish him success and the very best in his future endeavors.”
Dr. Todd is a native of Oklahoma City. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Oklahoma and went to medical school at the Oklahoma State University School of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his internship at VUMC in General Surgery. His academic interests include 3D printing and MRI.
Looking forward, Dr. Todd is most excited to help his patients and fellow doctors.
“My goal is to provide quality and appropriate care to patients and their families,” Dr. Todd says. “I also hope to learn how I can best serve my colleagues and the future residents in their growth as physicians.”
