The ACR Bulletin recently highlighted VUMC Radiology for its health equity efforts. From the Walker III Lecture in Health Equity to the work done with the student-run Shade Tree Clinic, ACR showcased the dedicated work those in our department do every day to help our community.
In the Bulletin, several of our faculty members and students are quoted, discussing the nature of their work and what inspires them to do it.
“Getting out there really helps us understand the needs and perspectives of our patients and develop the trust that is so necessary for their care,” says Kai Wang, MD, PGY 5 DR resident.
"Health equity is the responsibility of each and every one of us," Lucy Spalluto, MD, MPH, Vice Chair of Health Equity, Associate Director for the Radiology Office of Diversity and Inclusion, says in the article. “It’s going to take commitment from all levels to really create change.”
