Changho Choi, Ph.D.
Changho Choi, PhD, completed B.S. and M.S. studies in physics in South Korea and earned his doctoral degree in physics from University of Waterloo, Canada in 1996, where he began to work in the nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) field. Following several years of solid-state physics NMR research, Dr. Choi started to work in brain MR spectroscopy (MRS) at the University of Alberta, Canada in 2000. He continued brain MRS during his independent research period at UT Southwestern Medical Center, TX. Dr. Choi joined Vanderbilt Radiology as a research professor in 2022. Dr. Choi’s research is focused on development of MRS and identification of metabolic imaging biomarkers in patients with brain cancers (e.g., evaluation of IDH mutation status by 2HG MRS). Dr. Choi has a secondary faculty appointment at Psychiatry and conduct collaborative research with neuropsychiatrists. He is a member of the Society of Neuro-Oncology and the International Society of Magnetic Resonance for Medicine.
