ESIR resident Erica Emmons, MD, has first-authored a recently published study in RSNA's Radiology journal, titled, "Survival and Toxicities after 90Y Transarterial Radioembolization of Metastatic Colorectal Cancer in the RESIN Registry." The study evaluated survival, imaging response and toxicity following radioembolization with 90Y resin microspehres in 498 patients with colorectal carcinoma. These patients were enrolled in a prospective observational study run out of VUMC. Authors found that patients who received radioembolization as part of second line or salvage therapy had a median survival of 17.4 and 12.5 months, respectively. These outcomes are competitive with systemic therapy at similar points of disease. Significant toxicities were seen in less than 10% of patients.
