VUMC Diagnostic Radiology Resident Breiona Hamilton, MD, MHS, has been selected as a Society of Skeletal Radiology (SSR) Scholar for 2023. This merit-based scholarship program helps expose first- and second-year radiology residents to different facets of Musculoskeletal (MSK) Radiology.
“I feel extremely honored and humbled to have been selected,” says Dr. Hamilton. “I am looking forward to building meaningful relationships within the field as well as explore the multifaceted MSK subspecialty. I can't wait to represent VUMC Radiology at the annual Society for Skeletal Radiology meeting.”
Ten SSR scholars are selected each year by a committee of SSR members. Scholars are selected for their past accomplishments, letters of recommendation, and their interests in MSK as a future subspecialty.
This scholarship provides each recipient with various mentoring and leadership opportunities, as well as free registration to the 2023 and 2024 Annual SSR meetings.
Dr. Hamilton is a first-year DR resident at VUMC. She is originally from Kansas City, Missouri and received her medical degree from Meharry Medical College.
