VUMC Radiology Assistant Professor Kristin O'Grady, PhD, recently participated in a pilot workshop for women in their early imaging research careers. The findings of that pilot workshop have now been published.
In October 2022, the Academy for Radiology and Biomedical Imaging hosted "Presence and Voice of Female Perspectives Within Radiology." The workshop, which was designed by the attendees, sought to create a unique, organic, and impactful program that would serve as a foundation to build an active and connected community of women in imaging.
"As a participant in this pilot workshop, I am thankful I had this opportunity to network and collaborate with female leaders, mentors, and fellow early-career female faculty in the field of radiology and imaging research," says Dr. O'Grady. "Our full day of discussions and mentoring in a unique, small-group setting focused on the significant challenges and opportunities that women encounter in our career path. I am looking forward to observing the program's future growth and contributing to a comprehensive set of resources for the broader community of women in radiology and imaging research."
According to the report, this workshop was the first action in a broader effort to determine the needs for and approaches to programming supporting women in radiology and imaging research at institutions across the United States.
