VUMC Radiology is proud to share that Phillip Bates, MD, has joined our ranks as an Assistant Professor within our Neuroradiology section.
Dr. Bates is a graduate of the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, where he received a bachelors degree in chemical engineering and worked as a process engineer for two years before attending medical school.
He went on to graduate from South Alabama College of Medicine. Dr. Bates completed his diagnostic radiology residency and neuroradiology fellowship at the University of Florida Shands Hospital in Gainesville.
After training, Dr. Bates joined Radiology of Huntsville in Alabama, serving as a neuroradiologist. There, he was in charge of the practice's neuroradiology protocols, interpreted studies and performed procedures for various hospitals and imaging centers in north Alabama. Dr. Bates also served as the site chief for the Center of Imaging Excellence in Huntsville.
