Martin Jordanov, M.D., Associate Professor and Director of Medical Student Education, Department of Radiology and Radiological Sciences, recently received the 2018 Vanderbilt University School of Medicine (VUSM) Immersion Teaching Award.
Dr. Jordanov was one of five VUSM faculty presented with the award at this year’s commencement events for his outstanding contributions to medical student education. As Director of Medical Student Education, he oversees the radiology immersion courses offered to second-, third- and fourth-year medical students, including the four-week Advanced Clinical Experience and Integrated Science courses, and the two-week Foundations of Clinical Care course.
“I am honored to receive this award,” said Dr. Jordanov. “I view this as recognition of the increased role the Department of Radiology is playing in the education of Vanderbilt medical students.”
In addition, the VUSM Class of 2018 selected Dr. Jordanov as “Favorite Faculty” for the second consecutive year. He shares this recognition with 34 other clinical and basic science faculty throughout the Medical Center, and will appear alongside the graduates in their class composite.
Dr. Jordanov says the awards are a result of collective efforts of radiology faculty, fellows and trainees. “Thank you for always making the students feel welcome in your reading rooms, and for taking the time to share your knowledge with them,” he said. “Your efforts and kindness are appreciated more than you know.”
