Lori Deitte, M.D., Professor and Vice Chair of Education, Department of Radiology, was recently appointed to the American College of Radiology (ACR) Board of Chancellors as the Chair of the Commission on Publications and Lifelong Learning. She assumed this position at the ACR 2018 Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C.
One of ACR’s 12 operational commissions, the Commission on Publications and Lifelong Learning is committed to developing, evaluating and addressing the educational priorities of radiologists and radiation oncologists, including trainees, technologists and medical physicists. Areas of focus include initiatives around continuing medical education, accreditation, quality improvement and data science.
“This is an exciting time to be involved with radiology education, and I am honored to serve the ACR in this leadership position,” said Dr. Deitte. “The education landscape is rapidly evolving and the goal of our Commission is to provide collaborative educational resources that align with the ACR core purpose to ‘serve patients and society by empowering members to advance the practice, science and professions of radiological care.’”
Geraldine McGinty, M.D., MBA, Chair of the ACR Board of Chancellors, said Dr. Deitte’s innovative approach to education and use of design thinking is something that will benefit the ACR as they seek to adapt their approach to supporting members throughout their professional journey.
“Her experience both as a private practice and academic leader, as well as her contributions to organized medicine, including outgoing President of the Association of Program Directors in Radiology, mean that she understands the challenges that a radiologist faces at all stages of their career,” said Dr. McGinty. “Her inclusive and collaborative style will ensure a seamless transition and effective links between volunteers and staff in the service of our members and our patients.”
In addition to her role as the Board of Chancellors’ Chair of the Commission on Publications and Lifelong Learning, Dr. Deitte serves as a liaison to the Journal of the American College of Radiology’s editor and to the ACR Bulletin’s staff.
