Banovac is Immediate Past Chair of the SIR Foundation’s Board of Directors. He has served in a number of roles with the SIR and SIR Foundation, including SIR Foundation Vice Chair and Research Policy Division Chair. He was also awarded the SIR’s Gary Becker Young Investigator Award in 2009 in recognition of his research in IR.
Prior to joining Vanderbilt University Medical Center in 2015, Banovac served as Chief of IR, and Director of the IR Fellowship Program at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C.
